FAQs

Following consultation and queries from students since the Rochester campus closure was announced, we have listened to your questions and feedback. This page contains answers to your most frequently asked questions.

  • Will MA students have access to the café?

The kitchen will close at the end of July, but the sandwich/coffee bar will remain open for students and staff who will remain on campus until the end of September.

  • Will MA students have access to the library?

Yes. MA students will continue to be able to have some access to our Library collections and Gateway Services staff until the end of September. We are continuing to work with academic colleagues to identify the materials that will be required to remain onsite until end of August and, in addition, students can continue to request items from other UCA libraries.

  • How are affected students being told about moving to other UCA campuses?

Information is being shared through Programme Directors and, where appropriate, meetings and visits are being organised at a School and Course level.

In addition, from April, you will receive a monthly email from your Head of School to ensure you have all the information you need to successfully move to your new campus.

Teams across Student Services are also engaging with students to ensure that they have the support they need in a wide range of areas, including finance, disability support and individual learning plans.

  • What additional support is in place for those students moving to other campuses?

All students moving to a new campus will be provided with a £1,000 Rochester Student Bursary to support them with the additional costs of moving to a new campus.

Any student who is already accessing Wellbeing, Disability or Specialist Learning Development services will be contacted directly to review and agree on the support required during this period of change.

You can read more about student support on the Rochester Campus Closure: Service provisions update page.

  • Will there be an event for the last cohort of Rochester students to mark the closure?

UCASU is organising a masked ball, and details will be shared soon. We will also be holding a Grad Show to celebrate the work of all our graduating students.

More details can be found on the Rochester Campus Closure: Events page.
