  • Car

You'll find our campus on the outskirts of the city's ancient walls - use CT1 3AN on your sat nav.

Our campus car park is very small and permit issue operates at full capacity to essential staff and to those students that require access for health/medical reasons including difficulties with mobility.

We recommend that you use the Park and Ride car park on New Dover Road (postcode CT1 3EJ). The bus journey to the campus is about 5 minutes, let the driver know where you are going and they will let you know the right stop. For information about all the car parks available, visit the Canterbury City Council website.

There are public car parks in the city and limited on-street parking near to campus, but drivers should check street signage for restrictions including time-limits and whether payment is required.

There are convenient and cost-effective alternative ways to travel in by car, including Park & Ride and sharing the cost of travel by car sharing with others. There are also temporary on-campus permits of up to one-hour available to students who need drop off or pick up heavy, bulky or fragile items – see below for details.

    Park & Ride

Just over a mile from campus Dover Road Park & Ride offers a cheap and greener way of commuting to Canterbury by car. The £4 per vehicle charge includes a day’s parking and return travel on the P3 bus for up to six passengers. The P3 bus stops near UCA Canterbury every eight minutes during peak times.

    UCA Liftshare

UCA Liftshare is a convenient way to share your car journey and travel costs with others at UCA.

Dropping off heavy, bulky or fragile items

If you need to drop off or pick up heavy, bulky or fragile items you can access the UCA car park for up to one-hour after 4pm when the car park tends to be less busy. On arrival, please press the intercom on the car park barrier to speak with reception.

If you need to drop-off or pick-up an item between 8:30am and 4pm, you’ll need to contact reception in person, by email or by phone, at least 24 hours ahead of your arrival with full details of when and why you will need to access the campus by car. If your request is approved, you will be issued with a temporary permit for up to one hour.

  • Bus

Stagecoach runs buses across Canterbury that connect with local towns such as Whitstable, Herne Bay and Faversham. As a student, you can also get big discounts on local season tickets.

  • Train

Canterbury is served by two major train stations, both of which are around ten minutes’ walk to campus. Check out the National Rail website for timetables and to see if you’re eligible for discounted fares with a railcard.

  • Walking

Canterbury is a very compact and walkable city – so getting around is very easy. UCA Canterbury is located on the edge of the historic city, with much of the city centre pedestrianised.

  • Cycling

There are cycle racks and bookable cycle lockers on campus for use by students and staff. Like cycle parking everywhere it is important that you secure your bicycle with a good quality lock.  Please contact reception for details on how to book a cycle locker on campus.
