Wellbeing Advice

The Wellbeing and Disability team is here throughout your time at UCA. If you would like support, it is important to reach out so that you can get the most from your university experience.

We will provide a confidential space where you can talk to us about whatever you need to. Students have spoken to us about a variety of worries including anxiety, low mood, sleep, managing stress, grief, loss, anger and isolation.

We can also support you in accessing ongoing internal support such as UCA counselling and accessing external mental health services such as GPs and further talking therapies.

Self-referral

Wellbeing appointments

Students will be able to book an initial wellbeing appointment to talk about their worries. The team will discuss a plan which may include the following support:

  • Self-help options and information including our wellbeing tools 24/7 Student Support and Togetherall
  • Any impact mental health may be having on academic work and communicating with UCA staff for support
  • Support in accessing external services such as GPs, the NHS, talking therapy services and other local charities and organisations
  • A referral to our free Counselling Service
  • Agree steps to empower students to support their wellbeing and mental health during their university journey and beyond.

Support we CANNOT provide

  • On site medical care. Students will need to register with a GP if requiring ongoing medical care, such as prescriptions and appointments with nurses, GPs or specialists
  • On site administration and storage of medications
  • We cannot offer a crisis mental health service.
