The University is committed to sustainable development and over the last year we’ve made real progress with our sustainability programme, cutting our carbon emissions from energy by over a half since 2010 and being described SOS-UK (Students Organising for Sustainability) as one of the universities that is leading the way with our ambitious pledge to reach Net Zero Carbon emissions by 2030.

This year we’re embarking on major projects at Farnham and Epsom to cut our carbon emissions from heating and install low carbon heat pumps and more onsite rooftop solar power which will go a long way towards meeting our 2030 Net Zero target.

Since last year, we’ve also cut down on the amount of waste we produce by 7% and increased recycling by 14% and now recycle a third of all the waste we produce on campuses and student Halls of Residence.

More detail on the progress of our sustainability programme is available here.
