Wi-Fi 

You should be joined to the Eduroam Wi-Fi network to use the app. For full guidance on joining the university Wi-Fi, visit our IT help page. 

Location services 

You need to have your location switched on both on your phone and within the app.  

If you have a VPN (Virtual Private Network) enabled on your phone, you will need to switch this off otherwise the app won’t work. 

Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) 

As you are using your UCA credentials to log in to the app, you will need to use your current UCA MFA method, e.g. the Microsoft authenticator, text messages or email.

Use your UCA credentials (username@students.ucreative.ac.uk and password) to log in to the app. 

You will need to select Student Profile when you login. If you select Staff or Guest you won’t see the correct tiles.

The following tiles are now available on the app: 

myUCA

This is a pared down version of what myUCA (Blackboard – your Virtual Learning Environment) looks like through a browser. In here you can view course information, grades, assignments and calendars. There is a direct link to myUCA if you need to access more functionality. 

Email

This is a pared down version of the Microsoft Outlook App. This enables you to read and reply to your emails quickly and easily. It is not supposed to replace the Outlook app, but lets you communicate quickly on the go without leaving your student app. 

Smarthub (Equipment Hire)

There are two Smarthub tiles on the app. One of the tiles shows you what you have booked, what is due back and what is overdue.  

The other tile is a link out to the Smarthub website which you can use to book items.

Events

This tile brings together students events across all Schools. You simply choose your School by using the drop down filter and then you will only see events for your School. You can click onto an event to see more details about the time, location etc and find a booking link if there is one (booking links will take you out of the student app). 

Ask Campus Life

This is where you can get in touch with the Campus Life team for support, guidance and information for: 

• Money matters (including money advice and hardship applications) 

• Disability and learning differences 

• Wellbeing and counselling support 

• Course-related enquiries 

• Visa and immigration advice 

• General enquiries 

• Submitting a Mitigating Circumstance Request 

For any of the tiles that take you outside of the app to a website, the first time you use them you will need to login again. However, it will remember your UCA login credentials for future visits. 

You will get key university notifications pushed through the app. These will be important notifications for information you need to know, so please keep them switched on. They might be messages for all students or could be School-based or year group-based. Notifications appear in the Alerts section at the bottom of the app, and once you have read them, they will appear as read in the app.

You can login via your web browser on your laptop.

If you are unable to log in to the app then try to: 

• Log out and log back in to the app
• Try both the mobile app and the browser link to see if the app works
• Please double check that you are logging in using your UCA credentials (username@students.ucreative.ac.uk and your password).
